Alexander techniqueThe way you use your body affects everything you do: how you feel, think, act and how much tension you carry. The AlexanderTechnique is a subtle re-education in balance and movement, teaching you to tune in to your body more accurately and to undo harmful habits. As you take increased responsibility for your use, the Technique can help with co-ordination, chronic pain, breathing, or response to stress. At any age you can optimise your poise and well-being.

TheTechnique was recognised as vitally important to health by doctors in the 1930s, and since then many people have found it of far-reaching benefit in their lives. It is widely practised by musicians, actors and sports people to improve their performance and reduce the risk of injury.

A new student commented…
‘After suffering a whiplash injury in a road accident I suffered constant stiffness and pain in my neck and shoulders. Within the first few sessions of learning the Alexander Technique the stiffness eased and I stopped suffering the continual headaches on a daily basis’.

TheTechnique is a learning process which provides a long-term approach to the maintenance of your whole self. This basic introduction is a one-day workshop which will introduce you to the principles so you can see if it is something you wish to pursue. It will include as much hands-on work as possible within the context of the group.
